TALES OF THE SOUTH PACIFIC, REEL I: THE ISLANDS 1964

Opens with Henry Morle Bailey (in chair) and Helen Miller Bailey holding title card: “Tales of the South Pacific, Reel I, The Islands.” Illustrated title: “Bora Bora”: views of mountains from boat; large cruise ship unloading people onto smaller boats; cruise ship viewed from boat backing away. Waterside: locals playing music and preparing feast for tourists; dancers in traditional costumes (grass skirts, leis, flowers in hair) perform for tourists. “Tahiti”: View of harbor from above, beaches, local children and women, bikes. Views of ocean shot from boat, which approaches the pier and docks. Costumed locals perform for tourists. Henry Morle Bailey in wheelchair on shore. Village and mountains. “Rarotonga”: Footage shot from cruise ship (“Mariposa”). Locals in native costumes perform for tourists, just as above. “Suva, Fiji”: Crops, farmland, a few thatched huts and small houses. village life: women washing clothes, buses, souvenir shops. Uniformed band performs. “Pago Pago, Samoa”: Port: Locals perform in costume for tourists, as above. Another seaside town viewed from cruise ship: village with entertainment, women and children smiling at camera. “The End – Reel I.”
