The HMH Foundation Moving Image Archives is pleased to offer assistance in accessing material from the archives’ holdings.


VIEWINGS

Viewings of our holdings are available to researchers on site by appointment. Please email the archive staff at filmrequest@cinema.usc.edu or call the office at 213.740.1567.

In many cases material can also be viewed online or watermarked dvd’s can be purchased email filmrequest@cinema.usc.edu for information.


PRINT LOANS

The archive holds thousands of rare and classic films on all gauges, which are available for loan to qualified exhibition venues. For rates and information please contact Dino Everett at deverett@cinema.usc.edu. Transfers

TRANSFERS & RESTORATION

The following film formats can be transferred for reasonable fees (roughly $25 a reel):
8mm, Super 8, Single 8, 9.5mm, 16mm, 17.5, 28mm, 35mm coming soon 4K

Each film can be converted to a digital file or a DVD or BluRay disc. In the case of all film formats (especially 9.5, 28mm) professional restoration repair work is also available depending on the condition of the film.

In addition many different video formats from VHS, VHS-C, Betamax, DVCam, Mini-DV, 8mm, Hi-8, 3/4 inch Umatic, BetaSP, DigiBeta, HDCam, 1-INCH C’ etc can also be converted to digital files and discs.


IMAGE SCANS

The archive has thousands of stills and slides from motion pictures dating back to the early 1900’s. High quality digital scans are available for $10 each. Email for information to filmrequest@cinema.usc.edu and we will let you know what we have for the film or performer/director you are looking for.
